Sky Italia has confirmed that it has extended its contract to broadcast live Formula 1 grands prix in Italy through 2022.

The company has shown Formula 1 in the country since 2013 and has been the exclusive rights holder for the past two years after free-to-air broadcaster Rai exited the scene.

Sky Italia’s contract ran until the end of the current year but on Friday it confirmed a continuation for another two seasons.

“Sky confirms that we believe in Formula 1, one of the pillars of our sports offerings, which we want to continue to enhance and tell with the usual passion, for the love of speed and engines,” said Sky Marzio Perrelli, Executive Vice President.
