Jack Miller will switch to the factory Ducati team for 2021, although it was not confirmed who he would be replacing at the Italian manufacturer.

Rumours have gathered momentum recently that Ducati had decided Miller represented the future at the team, with current rider Danilo Petrucci the most likely on the chopping block, and that the Bolgona-based outfit was negotiating a deal with the Australian to switch from satellite Ducati team Pramac Racing for ’21.

Ducati stated that Miller has only a single-year deal – similar to its arrangement with Petrucci last season – with an option for ’22.

“First of all I want to thank warmly Paolo Campinoti, Francesco Guidotti and all the Pramac Racing Team for the great support I have received from them in the two and a half years spent together,” said Miller.

MotoGP confirms Aragon to remain on calendar for 2027 season

“It is an honour for me to be able to continue my MotoGP career with the Borgo Panigale manufacturer and I would like to thank all the Ducati management, Claudio, Gigi, Paolo and Davide, for having trusted me and given me this incredible opportunity.

“I look forward to starting riding again this year, and I am ready to fully commit to the responsibility of being an official Ducati rider in 2021.”

Miller will start his sixth full campaign in the premier class in ’21, having stepped up to the series with Honda in ’15 after narrowly missing out on the Moto3 title to Alex Marquez the previous season.

He has managed a single victory in that time – at a sodden Dutch TT from Assen with the Marc VDS Honda team in ’16 – and a best season result of eighth with Pramac last year, in which he scored four third places.
