DTM is set to be the first motorsport category in Europe to return to action after confirming plans for a four-day pre-season test next month.

DTM organisers ITR have revealed that the official test for the 2020 campaign will take place from June 8 to 11 at the Nurburgring.

Championship officials are in the process of finalising a revised 2020 schedule of races, which will take place without fans or media on-site.

DTM confirmed that at the upcoming test there will be a limit on the number of personnel permitted to attend while strict distancing procedures and hygiene rules will be enforced.

All participating team personnel will be checked for COVID-19 symptoms on a daily basis.

“With a lot of patience and hard work, preparations for the new DTM season are up and running at full speed, kicking off with the official test at the Nurburgring next month,” said ITR Managing Director Marcel Mohaupt.

“We’re extremely grateful to everybody at the circuit – they have put the infrastructure in place to allow us to test safely with all the relevant distancing rules.

The test naturally leads us to the next step. And we are extremely confident that we will be able to hold thrilling races in 2020, and that we will soon publish a new calendar that takes into account the requirements for a ‘new normal’ in motorsport as well.”
