Marc Marquez will remain with the Honda MotoGP squad until at least the end of 2024, having signed a lengthy four year extension with the Japanese manufacturer.

The reigning world champion has failed to win just a single premier class title since stepping up to the championship with Honda for the 2013 campaign, with 56 victories and 62 pole positions coming during this period.

Marquez says he is “proud” to continue with HRC for the foreseeable future, with Valentino Rossi’s record seven MotoGP titles well within reach of the Spaniard should he secures the accolade this season.

“I am very proud to announce my renewal with Honda Racing Corporation for the next four years,” said Marquez.

“Honda gave me the opportunity to arrive in the MotoGP class with a factory bike in 2013. Since the first year we have achieved success together and I am very happy to continue being part of the Honda family.

“HRC gives me the confidence to extend this partnership to obtain our common goal and continue our story of success.”

Marc will line up alongside reigning Moto2 world champion and brother Alex this year following the retirement of Jorge Lorenzo at the close of ’19, while he looks to face stiff competition from the likes of fellow Japanese marques Suzuki and Yamaha and the ever-strong Ducati team this year.

The entire MotoGP field will be back in action for the final pre-season test held at Qatar this weekend, before the season finally gets underway at the same venue in just two weeks time.
