McLaren has become the latest team to confirm the launch date for its 2020 challenger, the MCL35.
The date was unveiled during a live stream by McLaren driver Lando Norris.
The British racer looked to have inadvertently released the date as he filmed a team meeting in which he said: “What’s the meeting about?” To which someone replies: “Car launch.” Norris then adds: “I’ve heard it’s on the 13th of Feb?”
The stream immediately cut out with a worried look pasted across Norris’ face – but it was in fact planned.
The McLaren website was then updated with a countdown, confirming the February 13 date, which will see McLaren unveil its car two days after Ferrari, which is scheduled for February 11.
Alpha Tauri – formerly Toro Rosso – is the only other team to confirm its plans and is set to launch its car and branding on February 14, at Red Bull’s Hangar-7 museum in Salzburg.
McLaren will field an unchanged driver line-up of Norris and Carlos Sainz following an improved 2019 campaign in which the Woking-based outfit finished fourth in the Constructors’ Championship.
