W Series has announced that Formula 2 commentator Alex Jacques will join the commentary team for the 2020 championship.

Jacques filled the void left by Will Buxton in the then GP2 and GP3 commentary booth in 2015 and has continued at the helm, often supported by former GP2 champion Davide Valsecchi and former Formula 1 drivers Johnny Herbert and Anthony Davidson.

Regarding its presentation team, W Series stated it is continuing its mission to ‘develop emerging talent on and off-track’, teasing the return of some familiar faces as well as some new additions.

The 2020 W Series season will get underway in St.Petersburg, Russia, on May 29-30, continuing to support the DTM series.

Jacques said: “I’ve followed W Series with great interest throughout its first season, 2019. I’ve been extremely impressed by what I’ve seen, so much so that when I received the call inviting me to become its lead commentator, it was a very easy decision to make.

“But, in addition to the spectacle and appeal of W Series, I’m truly delighted to be taking this opportunity to make a positive impact on a sport and industry that I’ve come to love and respect.”I’ll be waiting with bated breath to find out whom I’ll be working alongside in the commentary box, but what I’m looking forward to most is delving into the detail and getting to know the drivers – I can’t wait to get started.”

In 2019, W Series was presented live in the UK on Channel 4, details of their 2020 coverage have yet to be confirmed.

He’s on F1 ch4 and we have switched off because of his dreadful manic injustice over the top delivery he’s like a poor man’s Jeremy Coarkson. That’s the season over for me, what have you done ch4?
