Filipe Albuquerque tops fourth Roar session

Filipe Albuquerque has gone quickest in the fourth practice session at the Roar Before the 24, breaking Mazda’s unbeaten run during the weekend.

The Portuguese driver set the fastest time in the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR, posting a 01:36:441 to beat out the #55 Mazda RT24-P of Ryan Hunter-Reay by less than two tenths of a second.

Renger van der Zande posted the third time in the #10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-VR ahead of the #77 Mazda of Tristan Nunez. Simon Pagenaud rounded out the top five in the #6 Team Penske Acura ARX-05.

PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports led the way in LMP2, with Simon Trummer setting a 01:38:764 in the #52 ORECA 07-Gibson to beat out the #8 Tower Motorsport by Starworks ORECA in the hands of David Heinemeier Hansson.

Harrison Newey set the third fastest time in the #81 Dragonspeed ORECA, with James Davison fourth in the only non-ORECA in the class, the #2 Rick Ware Racing Multimatic/Riley-Gibson.

Porsche topped the timing sheets in GTLM courtesy of the #912 911 RSR-19 of Mathieu Jaminet. The Frenchman bested his competition with a 01:44:542, ahead of the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE of James Calado.

Oliver Gavin put the new Corvette C8.R into the top three for the first time, with the #4 ahead of Jordan Taylor in the #3. Fred Makowiecki was fifth in the #911 Porsche ahead of both BMW M8 GTEs.

Frankie Montecalvo made Lexus and AIM Vasser Sullivan the team to beat in GTD, with a 01:47:250 in the #12 Lexus RC F GT3.
