With two hours remaining in the Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain, the #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid continues to hold a dominant lead as the only car still on the lead lap.
Mike Conway put Toyota colleague Sebastien Buemi's #8 TS050 Hybrid a lap down at the end of the fifth hour and is now just shy of 200 completed laps in the Bahrain night.
The darkness meanwhile brought heartbreak for Team LNT when the #5 Ginetta G60-LT-P1 – AER of Jordan King grounded to a halt in hour five, marking an early end to a troubled race for the car that started on the front row but was involved in a lap one tangle with Rebellion.
The GTE Pro battle continues to rage even without the presence of Porsche, who are on the back foot due to previous issues. Ferrari and Aston Martin both remain in the fight, with the #95 Aston Martin Vantage AMR of Nicki Thiim currently ahead of the #71 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo of Miguel Molina after beating it out of the pitlane. The lead in class is currently in the hands of the other Aston Martin of Alex Lynn.
United Autosports and Team Project 1 continue to be quick in LMP2 and GTE Am respectively. Paul di Resta is currently leading his class in the #22 ORECA 07-Gibson. Jeroen Bleekemolen was leading proceedings in GTE Am, but has since lost the lead to the #98 Aston Martin Vantage AMR of Ross Gunn.
With two hours remaining, the race standings are as follows:
LMP1: 1. M. Conway (#7 Toyota), 2. B. Hartley(#8 Toyota), 3. B. Senna (#1 Rebellion)
