Corvette Racing has confirmed that Jan Magnussen will not be part of its lineup for the 2020 season, thus ending a 15 year relationship between the American manufacturer and the Danish veteran.
Magnussen, who also spent three seasons in Formula One with McLaren and Stewart, joined Corvette's racing programme in 2004. He first came on board as an endurance racer, boosting the team's line-up during longer races before joining full-time in 2007.
"I’m fortunate to have had such a long career with Corvette Racing," Magnussen said. "When I joined the program in 2004, I never thought this would be my home for the next 16 years.
"The team is like my second family. I’m very proud of the championships and race wins we achieved together against very tough competition. Thanks to everyone at Corvette Racing for the good times and memories."
In his fifteen years driving for the team, the father of current Haas Formula One star Kevin Magnussen achieved no small measure of success. Magnussen took 35 race victories. This includes four wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and one victory in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Magnussen also won four championships and took 17 pole positions. In total, Magnussen took 156 starts with the American stalwart.
