The 21st hour of the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans has brought drama for both Racing Team Nederland and Corvette Racing as both yellow cars had incidents requiring repairs.
First, Racing Team Nederland's Nyck de Vries shot across the gravel at Indianapolis and the tyre barrier at high speed, heavily damaging his Dallara P217-Gibson but managing to get it back to the pits, bringing out a safety car.
After the safety car had passed, a possible crucial moment in the GTE Pro battle occurred as Jan Magnussen lost control of his #63 Corvette at Porsche Curves, damaging his front end and dropping back to eighth.
In his absence, AF Corse has stepped up to take the lead with conviction, currently leading ahead of the pair of Porsches of Richard Lietz and Nick Tandy.
In LMP1, the #7 Toyota continues to lead overall with Kamui Kobayashi some three minutes ahead of the #8 of Fernando Alonso, with the #11 SMP Racing machine of Mikhail Aleshin in third.
Signatech Alpine continues to rule LMP2, with Andre Negrao holding a significant lead ahead of Jackie Chan DC Racing's Stephane Richelmi and TDS Racing's Matthieu Vaxiviere.
Keating Motorsports still holds the lead in GTE Am, despite a scare for Felipe Fraga when the Brazilian ran wide after the safety car restart caused by De Vries.
Egidio Perfetti still runs in second position in the Team Project 1 Porsche while JMW Motorsport is still in third position in class, with the #84 JMW Motorsport in the hands of Jeffrey Segal.
