Sheldon van der Linde has grabbed pole position for the second DTM race of the weekend at Zolder. The South African set a time of 01:21:590 to take the top grid spot ahead of Audi's Rene Rast and saturday race winner Philipp Eng.
The session was briefly red flagged towards the end when Paul di Resta brought his Aston Martin Vantage DTM to a halt on track, causing a brief interruption to proceeding. Van der Linde, who by that point had already posted his best lap time, went out again afterwards, but wasn't able to improve.
Robin Frijns took fourth place in his Audi RS5 DTM ahead of Timo Glock, Mike Rockenfeller and saturday pole sitter Marco Wittmann. The top ten was rounded out by Jonathan Aberdein, Jamie Green and Joel Eriksson.
Jake Dennis set the fastest time for Aston Martin. His 01:22:563 was good for thirteenth place, with team-mates Daniel Juncadella and Ferdinand van Habsburg in sixteenth and seventeenth place respectively.
The second and final race of the Zolder DTM weekend kicks off at 13:15pm local time.
