Sebastien Bourdais will be pulling double duty at Long Beach this weekend. Alongside his scheduled IndyCar commitments, the Frenchman has also been brought in to replace Joey Hand in the #66 Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT for the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship round on Saturday.
According to Chip Ganassi Racing, #66 regular Hand is unable to compete due to illness and is suffering from ‘flu-like symptomps’. Instead, Dirk Mueller will now be sharing driver duties with Bourdais. Bourdais is also competing in the IndyCar Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach with Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan.
“Although we’re disappointed for Joey, we’re also fortunate to have someone like Sebastien who can step right in this weekend,” commented Ford motorsport boss Mark Rushbrook.
“We're grateful Dale Coyne Racing will allow him to do double-duty with the IndyCar race this weekend. Seb already has so many miles in the Ford GT, and knows the team and crew so well, that it’s the perfect solution.”
The Bubba Burger SportsCar Grand Prix kicks off at 5:00 PM EDT.
