Pippa Mann will contest the 2019 Indianapolis 500 with Clauson-Marshall Racing, in the teams first ever entry at the brickyard.
After former Indy 500 driver and dirt track champion Bryan Clauson lost his life whilst racing in 2016, the team was set up by his father, Tim Clauson, and long-time sponsor Richard Marshall.
“Merging our dirt programs with the Indy 500 program is very important to our future," said Tim Clauson, co-owner of Clauson-Marshall Racing. "We are fortunate to have Pippa Mann behind the wheel."
Mann will drive the number 39 Driven2SaveLives Chevrolet, with the primary sponsor a campaign of the Indiana Donor Network, whose aim is to increase awareness of the value of signing up as an organ and tissue donor.
As a registered donor, Bryan Clauson reportedly saved fives lives and helped many others after his untimely death.
"I am so thankful for this opportunity to join Clauson-Marshall Racing for their first Indianapolis 500," said Pippa Mann, a former team-mate of Bryan's.
"This is more than just a car entry to me and the journey has been an emotional one. Carrying the #39, and the Driven2SaveLives campaign on my Chevy entry is an honor that I don't take lightly."
Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles said: “It’s gratifying to see Indiana Donor Network’s relationship with Clauson-Marshall Racing grow into support that is helping one of USAC’s best race teams climb to the Indy 500 and continue the legacy of Bryan Clauson both on short tracks and at the Speedway.”
The 2019 Indianapolis 500 takes place on May 26th.
