After soaring to pole position earlier in the day, Katherine Legge secured her maiden victory in the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY in Mexico City, beating Bryan Sellers to the chequered flag.
In qualifying, Legge fronted a 1-2 result for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, with Sellers trailing the Briton by 0.273s while Simon Evans lined up in third place on the second row of the grid.
Securing a strong start from pole position, Legge held off Sellers to lead into Turn 1 while Salvador Duran, who started from fourth, also had a strong getaway, powering past Evans to move into the top three after launching an attack around the outside of the New Zealander.
While Legge was untouchable at the front of the field, close racing in the mid-pack saw carnage ultimately prevail at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez circuit, with an ambitious overtake from Caca Bueno on Duran resulting in mayhem when the prior was spun by the latter, forcing a number of drivers, including Evans, to take evasive action.
With the field now split in half within a matter of minutes, it became a two-horse race at the front of the pack, and by having better acceleration than Sellers out of the final corner lap after lap, Legge successfully claimed victory, beating Sellers to become the first woman to win a race on a Formula E race weekend.
Benefitting from contact between Duran and Bueno, Sergio Jimenez stood on the final step of the podium for Jaguar Brazil Racing while Bueno recovered to fourth.
Bandar Alesayi was the victor of the Pro-Am category by finishing in fifth place for Saudi Racing while Evans secured sixth, overtaking Ahmed Bin-Khanen in the closing stages of the race after the Saudi Arabian driver sustained extensive rear-end and floor damage.
Qi Lin was Jaguar China Racing's sole finisher in eighth place and was ultimately the final classified finisher of the race, with Celia Martin, Stefan Rzadzinski, Yaqi Zhang and Duran all failing to see the chequered flag.
By winning in Mexico City, Legge has taken the lead in Pro Drivers' Championship with 27 points, currently holding a one-point advantage over Evans, Jimenez and Sellers who are all tied on 26 points.
In Pro-Am, Alesayi currently holds an 11 point advantage over Bin-Khanen after taking back-to-back victories in this category.
The Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY will next support the ABB FIA Formula E Championship at the Hong Kong E-Prix on March 10.
