The Brabham BT62, driven by Luke Youlden, has smashed the Mount Panorama lap record during exhibition laps by recording a time of 1.58.69.
It beat the previous record of 2:01.567, set by Shane van Gisbergen driving a McLaren 650S GT3. However the fastest ever lap of the circuit was set by Jenson Button driving a McLaren MP-23 in 2011. The time of 1:48.88 is however unofficial as it didn't take place during an official session.
Braham recently confirmed its intention to join the World Endurance Championship for the 2021/2022 season, with a modified version of the BT62.
