One had to feel just a little bit sorry for the German race fans who attended Sunday afternoon's Grand Prix at Hockenheim, keen to see Sebastian Vettel win his home race. And there were quite a lot of them, around 50,000 on race day, if one subtracts the 20,000-odd Dutch.
