Jannes Fittje will make his debut in the GP3 Series at this weekend’s Hungaroring round, Jenzer Motorsport has confirmed.
Fittje has taken the place of David Beckmann after the two parties opted to go their separate ways.
Beckmann occupies 13th place in the championship courtesy of the points he scored in Spain and Austria.
Fittje will link up with incumbents Tatiana Calderon and Juan Manuel Correa at the Hungarian venue.
“I already know the Hungaroring in Budapest from Formula 3, which is a big advantage, but the car is completely different,” said Fittje, who is yet to drive the GP3/16.
“We now have over 400 bhp and, like in Formula 1, DRS. I have to learn to handle this.
“But I'm looking forward to the challenge and feel very well looked after in Andreas Jenzer’s team.”
Renault-affiliated Anthoine Hubert currently leads the tertiary championship, six points clear of Ferrari-backed ART Grand Prix team-mate Callum Ilott.
