Renault e.dams hail ‘satisfying’ final Formula E race weekend in New York

Having completed its final race weekend in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, Renault e.dams has hailed its New York City E-Prix as a satisfying close to its time in the all-electric single seater series.

The 2017/18 campaign marked Renault's final season in Formula E, with the French manufacturer ending its technical partnership with e.dams at the end of Season Four to switch its focus and efforts onto its Formula 1 works team.

With Season Four marking the e.dams squad's most difficult campaign to date, Formula E's season finale saw the team secure two pole positions for the double-header race in the Big Apple in addition to a podium finish in Race 1 through the services of Sebastien Buemi.

While Renault failed to claim a single victory in Formula E's 12-race Season Four, the team finished in fifth in the Teams' Standings with 133 points and four podium finishes to its name, bringing about the end of its involvement in the series.

“We have completed the season with a very satisfying weekend," said team owner Jean-Paul Driot.

"We have been searching for performance and the results during a large part of the season and the efforts of everyone have paid off. You just have to look at the classification of this last race for proof.

"We were among the four drivers separated by less than two seconds at the finish. The others were much further back and the time has come to thank Renault for these four wonderful seasons.

"Together, we contributed profoundly to the first chapter of the Formula E history,” he added.

Season Two champion Buemi was disappointed to miss out on the podium in the Season Four finale after getting pipped to third by Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler's Daniel Abt:

“This weekend was very positive in the context of a more complicated season than the preceding campaigns," he said.

"I am pleased to have taken these two pole positions but I would’ve liked to have finished once again on the podium to thank the team. We were very close to doing it!

"It is a special moment for all of us, because it is our last weekend with Renault. A page will turn and I will begin concentrating on Season 5 as soon as possible.”

While Buemi is set to remain at the e.dams squad in their new partnership with Nissan, Nico Prost will leave the team at the end of the season, and looked back on his time with the outfit holding nothing but fond memories:

"It is the end of what has been a frustrating season, but we have to remember the results gotten together with three Teams' titles," he said.

"I want to thank all the members of the Renault e.dams team for this fantastic adventure, they always gave their all to get good results and we have accomplished great things together.”

Season Five of Formula E will commence on December 15 with the inaugural Riyadh E-Prix.
