ART's Jake Hughes stormed his way to victory in the sprint race around the Red Bull Ring to win the second GP3 race of his career.
Hughes led the way after the top three on the grid which consisted of Polesitter David Beckmann and the Tridents of Ryan Tveter and Giuliano Alesi all collided with each other into Turn 1 on the opening lap causing a virtual safety car to clear away their stricken cars.
Once the race got back underway the British driver tried to make a gap to the Trident of Pedro Piquet behind but was unable to break the DRS gap of one second, the Brazilian made his move at the halfway stage and eventually snatched the lead away.
The British driver fought back quickly and was able to re-take the lead after using nearly all of his DRS usages in order to make the pass stick.
Campos' Leonardo Pulcini was unable to stick with the leaders in the final stages and had to settle for the final spot on the podium in third-place, but did take the fastest lap of the race.
Trident's Alessio Lorandi continued to impress by snatching a fourth-place finish using the last of his DRS allowances on the final lap to make a double pass on the MP Motorsport's Dorian Boccolacci and ART of Callum Ilott who were battling with each other.
Nikita Mazepin showed good pace in the early stages of the race, but the Russian couldn't manage the tyres well enough and lost pace against his rivals eventually having to settle for seventh-place ahead of Finland's Niko Kari who claimed the final points position in eighth.
Anthoine Hubert was unable to pass the Jenzer of Tatiana Calderon for the first half of the race and ended up losing ground to those in front, the Frenchman crossed the line to finish ninth ahead of Arden's Joey Mawson to round out the top ten.
Callum Ilott remains the championship leader head into the next round at Silverstone next week on July 7-8.
