Nico Prost will leave Renault e.dams at the end of Season Four after a torrid 2017/18 campaign for the French marque.
Prost has raced for the e.dams squad since Formula E's inception in 2014 and impressed in the first two seasons of the all-electric single seater series, taking three victories and two further podiums to finish in a best position of third in the Drivers' Championship in Season Two.
In Formula E's present campaign, Prost has had a turbulent season, taking only seven points away from 10 rounds compared to the 92 points scored by team-mate Sebastien Buemi.
"Nicolas has been one of the pillars at Renault e.dams since its creation. With Sebastien Buemi, they formed a complementary duo of drivers and both have been very involved in the collective performance," said Jean-Paul Driot, team owner of Renault e.dams.
"We have had some great times together, especially the three team titles that have rewarded the efforts of both of them.
"The time has come to turn the page, after an often frustrating season four and at the dawn of a new chapter in the history of Formula E.
"We all wish Nicolas great success in his future endeavours."
Despite leaving Renault, Prost will leave the team with fond memories:
“I am not only happy to have been with Renault e.dams these past four seasons, I am also thrilled to have been present at the very beginning of one of the most innovative motor racing championships of all time," he said.
"There are so many great memories, like my three race wins and the three Team titles. Of course, I regret season 4 hasn’t gone as well and we believe that it is best that we go our separate ways.
"I wish e.dams all the luck in the world and I am busy working on my new programme that I hope to announce soon.”
In Zurich, Prost was set to have a competitive weekend and was in a strong position to end his current pointless streak in Formula E, qualifying in eighth place, only 0.023s adrift of team-mate Buemi.
"I'm not happy with myself because today I had a fantastic car and I didn't brake late enough in Turn 1 and I think it would definitely have been Super Pole very easily, then the car was really flying," Prost told Motorsport Week.
In the race, Prost suffered a second retirement of this season following a battery failure:
"Then the race, it was a strong race, you know, I was a bit waiting for things to happen because I knew that I was very difficult on temperature and unfortunately the battery failed so it ended my race.
"I think it would definitely been a top five so it's very frustrating but at least we found back some pace today so it's very valuable for the last races.
"I was on the straight and everything cut and I could not restart the car but we had two battery problems today so I don't know if it's on our side or Williams' side but for sure something happened."
For Season Five, Renault will leave Formula E to focus all of its efforts on Formula 1 while Nissan will partner with the e.dams squad.
