Former MotoGP rider Héctor Barberá has been sacked by his Moto2 team Pons Racing after he was found guilty of drink driving.
Barberá was stopped by police in Valencia for speeding whilst also intoxicated and later arrested. He reportedly registered a 0.6 blood alcohol level, which is over Spain's strict legal limit.
The Spaniard was handed 22 days of community service and had his driving licence revoked for a year.
The Pons Racing team issued a statement on Friday following the news, confirming it had sacked Barberá.
"Following the latest events in Valencia with the driver Héctor Barberá on the night of 07/06/18, today 08/06/18 PONS Racing and Héctor Barberá rescinded the contract by mutual agreement that united them for the current season 2018.
"PONS Racing wants to thank Héctor Barberá for his services and wishes him the best in the future."
Barberá sits 19th in the Moto2 standings with ten points, whilst now former Pons team-mate Lorenzo Baldassarri is third with 84, 27 shy of leader Francesco Bagnaia.
