Anthony Davidson has been confirmed as part of DragonSpeed's LMP2 driver lineup for the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The 2014 World Endurance Champion is set to share the American squad's ORECA 07-Gibson with Roberto Gonzalez and fellow ex-Formula 1 driver Pastor Maldonado.
Davidson was initially left without a drive for the 2018-19 'Super Season' after his parent team, Toyota, announced two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso to its roster.
Toyota placed Alonso in a TS050 Hybrid with Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, who were Davidson's LMP1 team-mates for the previous three WEC campaigns.
Despite staying on as the Japanese manufacturer's lead reserve driver, the 38-year-old will now also have a full-time racing role, starting at the 6 Hours of Silverstone in August.
Former GP2 racer Nathanael Berthon is set to join Gonzalez and Maldonado for the opening two rounds at Spa and Le Mans, before Davidson takes over for the remainder of the campaign.
Davidson has raced in every WEC competition except the inaugural 2012 season, claiming at least a podium in each of his years with Toyota.
2014 heralded his first world championship success alongside Buemi, while last year the pair claimed five victories – more than any other crew – with Nakajima.
The DragonSpeed outfit, which is run by former F3000 racer Elton Julian, is also entering a BR1-Gibson in the LMP1 category this season, with Ben Hanley, Henrik Hedman, Renger van der Zande and Pietro Fittipaldi sharing the controls.
