Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler's Lucas di Grassi set the pace in the opening practice session of the weekend ahead of the Mexico City ePrix.
Di Grassi set a best time of a 1:01.158 using 200kW of power, leading Edoardo Mortara who was second fastest for Venturi Formula E by 0.362 seconds.
Jean-Eric Vergne, who currently leads the Drivers' Championship in Formula E, was third fastest for Techeetah and was almost half a second down on di Grassi's best time while Jaguar Racing's Mitch Evans closely followed the Frenchman in fourth fastest.
Alex Lynn completed the top five for DS Virgin Racing after having a lairy session where the British driver found the limit very quickly by pushing hard early on in the session, preparing for a ten-place grid demotion which he will face later on today following a gearbox change.
Dragon Racing's Jose Maria Lopez was sixth fastest, trailing Lynn by 0.022 seconds while Felix Rosenqvist also closely followed in seventh fastest for Mahindra Racing, 0.023 seconds adrift of Lopez.
Di Grassi's Audi teammate, Daniel Abt, ended the session in eighth fastest followed by Sam Bird who was ninth in the second DS Virgin car while Renault e.dams' Sebastien Buemi rounded out the top ten.
"We're doing out job," said di Grassi post-practice. "The car is fast as it has been for the past four races, but to score points we need to finish races so that's our target."
After having a difficult start to the season which has been plagued by reliability problems, di Grassi faces a ten-place grid penalty following an inverter change for this weekend's race after a second retirement of the season in Santiago last month.
When asked how a grid penalty will impact his race, di Grassi said:
"Nothing really, we try to do our best as every weekend. We are on the downside because, ten-place penalty group one which is also pretty bad so we're going to give it all and see what's the outcome by five o'clock."
