The Racing Team Nederland LMP2 squad will step up to the World Endurance Championship next season.
The team made its debut in this year's European Le Mans Series, finishing 11th, and also competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with its Dallara P217-Gibson.
It will campaign the same Dallara chassis during the 2018-19 WEC 'super season', with Dutch supermarket magnate and team owner Frits van Eerd the first confirmed driver.
“I am truly proud that following our debut year we will be making such a significant and ambitious step," said Van Eerd, who shared driving duties at Le Mans with 1988 winner Jan Lammers and ex-Formula 1 star Rubens Barrichello.
"With our participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Netherlands will be represented at the highest level of sportscar racing.”
Van Eerd is the first non-ORECA entrant to commit to the WEC LMP2 category since the introduction of new class regulations at the start of 2017.
The Dallara chassis only saw action in the ELMS during its first season, and achieved its maiden race win at the 4 Hours of Le Castellet in August with SMP Racing.
Racing Team Nederland will announce full details of the 2018-19 programme, including the rest of its driver lineup, in the new year.
