Audi's Daniel Abt has been stripped of his maiden Formula E victory in Hong Kong on Sunday, handing the victory to Felix Rosenqvist.
Abt claimed the victory on Sunday when race leader Edoardo Mortara span out of the lead with just two laps remaining, pushing him down to third and elevating Abt to the lead and Rosenqvist to second.
However following a post-race inspection, it was found that the FIA security stickers placed on the inverters and motors of Abt's car did not correspond with those declared on the car’s technical passport – the stickers are used to identify if a part has been tampered with.
The rules breach results in an automatic disqualification and Abt drops to last, handing the win to Rosenqvist, whilst promoting Jaguar's Mitch Evans to the podium.
"Heartbroken I‘m struggling to find words for this," said Abt. "All I know is that I did my best to make you proud. We intend to appeal the decision."
It is the third time the outfit has lost a victory through stewards decisions.
Meanwhile Audi was also hit with a €5,000 fine after five team members walked onto the track to get to the podium before the final car had entered parc ferme.
