ART Grand Prix driver George Russell will start his home GP3 race at Silverstone from the front of the grid after setting the pace in qualifying.
The British driver finished the 30-minute session just one tenth clear of his team-mate Anthoine Hubert, with Nirei Fukuzumi making it an ART 1-2-3.
Russell, who put in the best time during Thursday’s practice session, set his quickest lap of 1:46.608 early in his second run – having held the lead after the early laps.
Renault F1 junior Jack Aitken missed out on making it an ART clean sweep with a slightly scruffy session, ending it in sixth place.
He was just behind Trident’s Dorian Boccolacci and Alessio Lorandi, although Boccolacci has a three-place grid penalty for causing a collision in Austria.
This drops him to seventh, promoting Lorandi, Aitken and Red Bull junior Niko Kari. Jenzer’s Arjun Maini was eighth fastest, with Trident’s Ryan Tveter next up.
Campos driver Julien Falchero rounded out the top 10 in the closely-fought qualifying session, where the top 10 were separated by just eight tenths.
