KTM has completed a two-day private test at the MotorLand Aragon circuit in Spain, with Moto2 frontrunner Miguel Oliveira getting his first MotoGP outing.
The Portuguese rider raced for the team in his final Moto3 campaign and after a year in Moto2 with Kalex, he returned to KTM for the current season.
He joined KTM’s MotoGP racers Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith, plus test rider Mika Kallio, for laps at the Aragon circuit.
It was a busy two-day test for the team, with Smith admitting he feels it will give KTM “good direction for the second half of the season, and for 2018 as well”.
After nine rounds of Moto2 in 2017, Oliveira is third in the standings with four podium finishes – including second places in Argentina and Germany.
"The goal was not that I was to get really fast but it was a test for myself to enjoy the day,” he explained after the test.
“I had this opportunity that I think every rider would like to have in his career at least one time but I’m really pleased to have had the chance to try that bike.
“So, all in all it was a very good day to do a few laps and enjoy a MotoGP bike. Thank you KTM.”
