McLaren's Jenson Button has said the sport should "move on" from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix incident between Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton.
Vettel was handed a 10-second stop and go penalty for deliberately driving into the side of Lewis Hamilton during a race restart, but the FIA has now reopened the case and will examine all the details again to see if further action is necessary, with many in the paddock believing Vettel's punishment wasn't sufficient.
Button, who is now retired though stood in for Fernando Alonso in Monaco earlier this year, admits that what the Ferrari driver did was "silly", but the sport should get past it because it contributed to a great race and believes the penalty, which actually equated to 30-seconds, was sufficient.
"Azerbaijan GP was a pleasure to watch," said Button. "Why? Because adrenaline and emotions were high.
"What Vettel did was silly but he's been punished. Move on.
"If a driver at racing speed forces another driver off track he would get less punishment than a 10-second drive through."
When it was put to him that such an action could set a bad example for junior drivers, the Briton said the penalty amounts to "game over" for a driver's race and is therefore enough of a deterrent.
"Well a driver now knows that he will get a 10-second drive [through penalty] which equates to 30 seconds with pit entry and exit. Game over."
