Suzuki rider Álex Rins will return to racing action at this weekend’s Dutch TT, following a lengthy absence due to injury.
Rins fell during practice for the Grand Prix of the Americas in April and sustained fractures to his left forearm and wrist, missing the following five races as a result.
Rins participated in testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya last week and has now been given the all-clear to resume his rookie campaign at Assen.
“The recovery from injury has been long and tough, but finally I will re-join the team and again be able to race my GSX-RR,” said Rins, who finished ninth on his debut in Qatar.
“I can’t wait to get back to the feeling of racing and be reunited with my team again.
“Last week we tested in Barcelona and my feelings were positive. I’m recovering well and made a lot of progress. We worked without any pressure, but yet we were able to make improvements.
“Assen is a magical circuit; I can’t wait to ride there on a MotoGP machine.”
Takuya Tsuda and Sylvain Guintoli filled in for Rins during the Spaniard's absence, riding alongside regular racer Andrea Iannone.
