NextEV NIO driver Nelson Piquet Jr is optimistic and hopeful the team can challenge for a podium position at the Paris ePrix.
It is the first time Formula E has had back-to-back rounds, with Piquet finishing fourth at last weekend’s Monaco ePrix.
The season one champion was in contention for a podium in Monaco when he collided with Jean-Eric Vergne’s Techeetah car, having to pit earlier than his rivals to change cars due to damage.
Piquet recovered to fourth, continuing to show NextEV NIO’s improved performance and pace in recent races.
While the team struggled at the inaugural Paris ePrix last year, Piquet is feeling more positive about his chances in 2017.
“It’s fun that it’s a back-to-back race – it’s the first time we’ve done that in Formula E,” he said.
“I like Paris, last year was our first time there. “This year should be good and I’m aiming for another Super Pole.
“We can see that we are lacking a little in the race, but maybe with a bit of work on strategy we can try to get a podium.
“We just need to keep trying to score points and learning as much as we can.”
