DS Virgin Racing’s José María López has been cleared to race at the Monaco ePrix after taking part in first practice.
The Spanish driver suffered two damaged vertebrae in a crash during the FIA World Endurance Championship season-opener, the 6 Hours of Silverstone.
He missed the most recent WEC round at Spa-Francorchamps last weekend to recover from the injury and was assessed by the FIA medical team after Monaco ePrix first practice.
López set the fifth fastest time in FP1 around the streets of Monaco and has been deemed fit to race in the remainder of the sessions.
“I’m feeling well, there were no problems, I even hit some kerbs and… nothing,” he explained after the session.
“I knew for a few days that the pain was not coming, so it’s all good.”
López will be looking to build on an encouraging last Formula E round in Mexico, where he scored a season-best sixth place.
