Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished quickest during the final practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix, as three different teams filled the leading three positions.
Verstappen registered a time of 1:32.194 during the final few minutes of the session to wind up 0.110s clear of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel third.
Vettel, who was over half a second adrift of Verstappen, edged Valtteri Bottas by just 0.004s, with Ferrari team-mate Kimi Räikkönen only 0.031s further back.
Felipe Massa bagged sixth spot for Williams, moving 0.008s clear of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, as Nico Hülkenberg placed Renault firmly inside the top 10, the last of the drivers to set a time in the 1:32s.
Carlos Sainz Jr. completed the most laps as he attempted to make up ground lost with his FP2 stoppage and clocked the ninth best time, leaving Toro Rosso team-mate Daniil Kvyat to round out the top 10.
Sergio Pérez took 11th, ahead of Fernando Alonso, while Sauber returnee Pascal Wehrlein hauled himself up to 13th spot with a late lap.
The only incident of note came when Haas’ Romain Grosjean lost control of his VF-17 exiting Turn 4 and spun into the barriers on the inside of the corner.
The session was briefly red-flagged, though Grosjean was able to recover to the pit lane, and re-appeared on-track during the final few minutes.
