Ferrari president says Kimi Raikkonen’s form needs to be discussed

Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne says the team must sit down with driver Kimi Räikkönen and find out why his form is lacking, after the Finn was once again comprehensively outpaced by team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

In Australia Räikkönen qualified four-tenths off Vettel's time and finished fourth whilst the German won the race. In China, Räikkönen was only two-tenths adrift, but struggled ito fifth in the race, amid complaints over engine settings and being kept out on used tyres.

Vettel, meanwhile, recovered from sixth spot to finish second, passing his team-mate at Turn 6.

When asked about Räikkönen's pace during the middle part of the race when Vettel was being held up, Marchionne said: "I talked about this with Maurizio [Arrivabene, team principal].

"Maybe they should sit around a table and he should talk to him," the Ferrari president told media in Shanghai.

"Today he seemed to be busy with other stuff. Vettel was more aggressive."

Marchionne insists the team chose the right strategy of pitting Vettel early and says an badly timed Safety Car was the reason they were unable to challenge Lewis Hamilton for the win.

"I can confirm that our choice to change the tyres of Vettel was correct," he added. "Without the safety car the story of the race would have been different.

"It was a nice race, we [finished] second, we are second in the constructors' championship by one point and Seb has the same points as Hamilton. That's not bad after two races."
