Sebastian Vettel single-handedly led Team Germany to its seventh Race of Champions Nations Cup title on Sunday in Miami, defeating NASCAR brothers Kurt and Kyle Busch in the final.
Four-time Formula 1 world champion Vettel had been due to team up with Pascal Wehrlein, only for the 2015 DTM champion and Sauber F1 racer to be ruled out on medical grounds following a flip during Saturday's contest.
Vettel was unfazed by having to do twice the racing, winning all eight of his matchups en route to a seventh Nations Cup title for Germany. Vettel won six straight between 2007 and 2012 alongside Michael Schumacher.
Vettel topped a group including defending Nations Cup champion Team Great Britain, represented by David Coulthard and Jenson Button, and Team Nordic's Tom Kristensen and Petter Solberg.
Vettel faced Team Colombia in the semi-final, with Saturday's Race of Champions winner Juan Pablo Montoya and recent IndyCar racer Gabby Chaves both losing their heats to give Team Germany a berth in the final.
Vettel was matched up against Team USA NASCAR after Kurt and Kyle Busch edged out Team USA IndyCar in controversial fashion. Kyle Busch appeared to jump the start for his decider against Alexander Rossi, but no penalty was applied, giving the brothers a 2-1 victory.
Despite almost stalling in the second heat, Vettel managed to complete a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Busch brothers, continuing his run of having always won a title at the Race of Champions, as well as taking Team Germany's tally of victories to seven.
"I had a better day than yesterday," Vettel said. "It's a bit of a shame that Pascal is missing, but I did my best.
"In the last round against Kyle I was really nervous. The car nearly stalled. But then I came back so really, really happy."
