Mads Østberg will return to the WRC for the second round of the campaign in Sweden, after being left without a seat for the opening rally in Monte Carlo.
Østberg, winner of the Portuguese Rally in 2012, has started over 100 rounds in the championship, most notably for Citroen and M-Sport.
However, M-Sport has signed Sébastien Ogier and Ott Tanak to spearhead its charge in the category this season, leaving Østberg on the side lines.
Østberg will instead return to action in Sweden, where he has taken five podiums across the last six years, in an independent M-Sport Ford Fiesta.
The Norwegian is set to partner Martin Prokop for the bulk of the 2017 campaign.
