Charles Leclerc will start from pole for Saturday's GP3 race after securing the top spot by three-tenths from DAMS driver Jake Hughes.
Leclerc starts 16 places ahead of nearest championship rival and ART team-mate Alex Albon, as the Thai racer could only manage P17 after he made an error at Fagnes, as he clipped the gravel trap on the exit and came very close to finishing his session in the barriers.
Nyck de Vries, who had provisional pole secured following the opening runs, dropped down to third as he fell a tenth short of making the front row, despite posting a second improvement between his first and final flyer.
Meanwhile title contender Antonio Fuoco, who currently sits third in the standings just 11 points shy of the lead, starts fourth as the Trident driver managed to post a best time of 2m05.448. He starts ahead of DAMS' Kevin Jorg in fifth.
Matt Parry (Koiranen), Arjun Maini (Jenzer) and Sandy Stuvik (Trident), Santino Ferrucci (DAMS) and Alex Palou (Campos) completed the top ten.
