Marc Marquez will start the Brno MotoGP race from pole position after a frantic final lap which saw him overtake championship rival Valentino Rossi to cross the finish line quickest.
The Honda rider posted a sensational 1m54.596s laptime to beat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo by just over two-tenths. Marquez looked under pressure as he left it to the final minutes to post his quickest time, which saw him overtake Rossi at the final turn to ensure he wasn't held up.
He also came close to making contact with Pol Espargaro's Tech 3 bike as he raced up to its rear tyre as he crossed the line.
Lorenzo had to settle for second on the grid despite showing sublime form all weekend, which saw him break the lap record during FP3, and top FP4 before losing out to championship rival Marquez.
Lining up alongside them will be Andrea Iannone. The Italian was the last man to cross the line and had to wheel the bike back up the pitlane to parc ferme, having failed to realise how well he'd qualified.
Aleix Espargaro will start fourth, just a tenth shy of Iannone, with Hector Barbera completing the top five.
Rossi meanwhile will start sixth, almost a second adrift of the leading pace, as his final flyer was compromised by Marquez's overtake which lost the Yamaha rider a chunk of time.
Seventh-placed Dovizioso had a delayed start to his session as he chose to change his front forks. On his return to the track, his first run was aborted when his rear wheel came well off the ground under braking at Turn 11.
Completing the top ten is Mavrick Vinales (Suzuki Ectstar), Dani Pedrosa (Honda) and Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda).
