Pirelli has for the first time this season recommended maximum stints for its three tyre compounds at the British Grand Prix.
The Formula 1 tyre supplier issued a notice to all teams, recommending that no more than 26 laps be completed on the Hard tyre, 28 on the Medium and 15 on the Soft.
Pirelli believes the Medium will last slightly longer than the Hard due to higher graining on the latter compound seen this weekend.
Therefore the quickest strategy is likely to be a two-stop, with Pirelli recommending two stints of 12 laps on the Soft compound, with one 28-lap stint on the Medium tyre.
The Italian supplier did however note that their figures give no guarantees and that teams should refer to their own tyre data to determine their own strategies for the race.
The recommendations come after Sebastian Vettel suffered a tyre failure at the Austrian GP last time out. Although Pirelli don't believe the failure to be tyre wear related, despite Vettel completing some 28 laps on the Soft, it can't be ruled out as there was little left of the tyre to analyse.
