Charles Leclerc was once again the fastest man during the second day of the GP3 Series test at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, having also topped the timing screens on day one of the two-day test.
The Ferrari development driver piloted his ART Grand Prix car to a best time of 1m19.437s, just pipping Trident’s Antonio Fuoco by a hundredth of a second.
Leclerc set his best time during the morning and it wasn't beaten during the afternoon, with Campos Racing’s Steijn Schothorst quickest in the afternoon with a 1m20.671s, a mere 0.037s ahead of Arden International’s Jack Aitken.
With the final day of testing upon them before the next round, most drivers chose to focus on race simulations, which would explain the lack of chart-topping times after the lunch break.
There were a total of four red flag stoppages, three in the morning and one in the afternoon. Two of those were down to Trident's Giuliano Alesi, who stopped on track at Turns 2 and 3 and thirdly when Konstantin Tereshchenko stopped at Turn 2.
The sole red flag in the afternoon was caused by Kevin Jorg, whose DAMS car came to a halt in the gravel at Turn 6.
The top ten overall, taking into account combined times from the morning and afternoon, were: Leclerc, Fuoco, Matthew Parry, Alexander Albon, Jack Aitken, Nick de Vries, Oscar Tunjo, Ralph Boschung, Santino Ferrucci and Sandy Stuvik, all having lapped within three-tenths of the quickest time.
GP3 Series will next be in action for Round 2 of the 2016 season at this same track on July 01-02-03.
