Former F1 driver Max Chilton has been confirmed at Chip Ganassi Racing for the 2016 IndyCar season.
The British racer competed in two F1 seasons for Marussia, claiming a best finish of 13th place in Australia and Bahrain 2014.
He was not retained when the team returned under the Manor name in 2015 and instead switched focus to American single-seater racing, driving for Carlin in Indy Lights.
Chilton competed in a partial campaign with the team, claiming one win and five further podium finishes to end the year fifth in the standings.
Chip Ganassi Racing has now confirmed Chilton as its fourth and final driver for the 2016 season, alongside reigning champion Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan and Charlie Kimball.
"I couldn’t be happier to join Chip Ganassi Racing’s IndyCar program," said Chilton, who will compete in the No.8 car. "This organization is built on winning and their 11 INDYCAR Championships back that up.
"Chip is the kind of team owner that every driver dreams of working for in their career. He’s accomplished so much in so many different categories over the years, and I can’t wait to start driving for him."
Chip Ganassi, team owner, added: "Max is a talented young driver who has driven a number of different disciplines already in a short time.
"He brings a good deal of experience to our Indy car line-up and we’re looking forward to him being part of our four-car team in 2016 and making a big contribution."
