Belgian Grand Prix starting grid after penalties

A number of penalties totalling a rather crazy 125 places have altered the starting grid for the Belgian Grand Prix, but not as dramatically as the aforementioned number suggests.

Lotus’s Romain Grosjean, who qualified fourth, will start from ninth having received a five-place penalty after a gearbox change, promoting Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, Felipe Massa, Pastor Maldonado and Sebastian Vettel up a place each.

Max Verstappen was handed a 10-place penalty for an engine change and will start 18th, a drop of just three places.

Meanwhile Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso received a record breaking 105-place drop, though they can only serve a fraction of that after qualifying 17th and 18th respectively.

Meanwhile Kimi Raikkonen received a five-place penalty for a gearbox change, but due to the size of McLaren’s penalty, he only drops from 14th to 16th.
