Lewis Hamilton was once again quickest during second practice for the Canadian Grand Prix, but he hit trouble when torrential rain drenched the circuit and he ended up in the barriers.

Key Points from FP2:

– Hamilton went quickest again, improving on his FP1 time by two-tenths to dip below the 1:16 mark – making him the only driver to do so this weekend so far.

– However as rain hit, Hamilton’s call to go out on intermediates ended his session when he aquaplaned off the circuit and into the tyre wall.

– The session was then red flagged, with race control deeming it too unsafe.

– Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen split the Mercedes, with Nico Rosberg posting a 1:16.440, almost half a second shy of his team-mate.

– Nico Hulkenberg finished 11th for Force India, though the German was forced to pit with a left-rear puncture, something Pirelli blamed on the rim rather than his tyre.

– Daniil Kvyat and team-mate Daniel Ricciardo completed the top ten for Red Bull, both a second down on Hamilton’s best lap.
