The Marussia F1 Team (or Manor GP as it’s listed on the FIA entrant sheet), has just 48 hours if it’s to make the grid this season according to former boss Graeme Lowdon.
Any chance of survival depends on whether investment can be found ahead of the final asset auction which is due to take place on Wednesday.
Whilst much of the team’s equipment has been sold, including their Banbury base to Gene Haas, there remains sufficient equipment to operate the team for a season.
“There have been some auctions already but none of the equipment that has been sold so far is essential for the team to go forward,” Lowdon told Sky Sports. “But if that equipment went next week it would be difficult [to return].”
There are interested parties in taking the team over, particularly as it’s set for a £40 million ($60m) payout at the end of the season if it makes the grid.
However it’s vital that a deal is concluded within the next two days, before the auction, if the team is to be resurrected.
“It’s certainly possible for the team to get there. It would be good news for F1 and for our fans, certainly,” he added.
