Sam Michael will leave his role as sporting director at McLaren at the end of the current season, the team confirmed on Wednesday.
Michael handed his resignation in to the company in March and parts on good terms, confirm McLaren.
The 43-year-old will return to Australia to be with his close family after spending 20 years travelling the world with the Formula 1 circus, previously with Williams before he joined McLaren in 2012.
The statement also refuted reports that CEO Jonathan Neale and technical director Tim Goss will leave the team.
“They are not leaving and there are no plans for them to leave,” it confirmed.
