Lewis Hamilton believes the recent FRIC suspension ban might benefit him in his fight against team-mate Nico Rosberg.
The Briton is known to be heavier than Rosberg, even after an off-season of dieting, and therefore has less ballast to play with. But the removal of FRIC has dropped the weight of the Mercedes by a couple of kilograms.
That, according to Hamilton, will allow him to build-up the muscle he lost over the winter to come back even stronger after the summer break.
“The summer will be good to re-energise and to get fit,” he said.
“I am very, very light, but the car is [now] lighter, so I can put a little bit of weight on over the break.
“That will be muscle, and not fat, so I can come back stronger both physically and mentally.”
He is however confident in his mental ability already, having fought back from several reliability issues which have seen him start at the back of the grid in both Germany and Hungary, only to recover to third.
“I saw some stories that I was going to crack under the pressure, but I think hopefully this will show that I am not, and that I am still in the fight.”
