Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen says he will probably retire from Formula 1 next season once his contract has expired.
The Finn was asked whether he saw himself at Ferrari after 2015, but his response seems to suggest not.
“Until my contract is finished, and then I will probably stop,” he said on Thursday. “That is what I think is going to happen.”
Raikkonen is known to enjoy activities outside of F1 and even took a two-year break to try NASCAR and rallying before making a semi-successful comeback with Lotus.
He then joined Ferrari alongside Fernando Alonso this year but has struggled for performance.
It seems the lure of rallying has once again caught his eye, but he hinted that he’s done with F1 even if Ferrari were to allow him to compete outside of the sport.
“The teams are scared that we could get hurt. It would be nice not just for us but for the fans [if we could] do many things,” he added.
But when asked if doing both would keep him in F1, he replied: “No, I don’t think so.”
