Kimi Raikkonen topped the first day of testing in Jerez on Tuesday, although the times meant very little due to the lack of action.
The first out was Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton who completed several trouble free laps before a front-wing failure caused him to hit the barriers at turn one, ending his afternoon.
Raikkonen was next out, but stopped after just a few corners. The exact issue remains unknown, but it’s believed it was an electrical fault.
Despite the problems, he topped Hamilton’s best time by seven tenths of a second.
Valtteri Bottas was third quickest after a late debut for Williams. Caterham and Red Bull were also late to the party as the latter had just 15 minutes of track time.
