Pirelli are closing on a new deal which will see them supplying Formula 1 tyres exclusively for the next three years.
The Italian manufacturer has just reached the end of a three-year deal and was awarded a single-season contract for 2014 after the FIA failed to put out a tender for new manufacturers to come forward.
Pirelli however is keen to agree a new deal which will cement their future in the sport until at least the end of 2016.
“We are close to finalising an agreement,” the company’s president, Marco Tronchetti Provera, told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We asked for an exclusive agreement for three years. There is no pressure, but we are collaborating very closely with the FIA.”
