Tickets have gone on sale for the Richard Branson/Tony Fernandes AirAsia charity flight – the result of a lost bet between the two airline owners.
Back in 2010, when Branson invested in the then Virgin Racing (now Marussia) outfit and Fernandes in the Lotus Racing (now Caterham) team, the pair made a bet to see who would finish ahead of who.
The loser would have to don a stewardess outfit and make-up to serve passengers during a flight on the rival airline.
Lotus Racing finished ahead of Virgin Racing in their debut season (and the following two). Virgin Atlantic owner Branson will therefore serve as a stewardess on Fernandes’ AirAsia airline.
It’s taken up until now for the date to be settled. The charity flight sees all proceeds from tickets and a portion of on-board sales donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia.
The flight will take place on May 12th between Perth (Australia) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Tickets can be booked here.
