Felipe Massa is positive that he, team-mate Fernando Alonso and Ferrari are capable of fighting at the top this season after a positive start to 2013.
He says the Italian outfit is definitely amongst the leading pack headed by Red Bull which secured a 1-2 finish in Malaysia last time out.
Ferrari meanwhile are yet to win a race, but scored a podium in Australia thanks to Alonso’s second place with Massa in fourth, and fifth in Malaysia, although Alonso crashed out on lap two from second.
Massa is confident there is more to come in the coming races.
“I know we have only done two races, but I have a good feeling so far this season,” he said. “The work we did with the F138 over the winter has taken us in the right direction and the car has much more potential.
“All I can say is that there are definitely more than two teams that are capable of fighting for the wins and the championship.
“Our team is one of them, with the car moving forward in the right way and it is delivering results on track that we expected when looking at data in the windtunnel and the factory.”
He is hoping further upgrades at the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend will confirm their position amongst the front-runners.
“We are well prepared for China and we will have all the updates we hoped to bring with us in Shanghai, after work in the factory and the simulator last week,” he added.
